The Rocket R58 Cinquantotto (2020) is a high-end, dual boiler espresso machine designed for the serious home barista. The name "Cinquantotto" is Italian for 58, referencing the model number and the classic 58mm portafilter. This machine is a significant step up from Rocket's heat exchanger models, offering a new level of temperature stability and control.

Here's a quick rundown of its key features:

1. Dual Boiler System:

This is the most important feature. The R58 has two independent boilers: a 0.58-liter brew boiler and a 1.8-liter steam boiler. This allows you to set and control the temperature of each boiler separately.

This system eliminates the temperature compromises found in heat exchanger machines, ensuring a perfectly stable temperature for brewing your espresso while maintaining plenty of steam power for milk frothing. You can brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously without any drop in performance.

2. PID Temperature Control & Removable Pod:

Each boiler is regulated by its own PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) temperature controller. This provides the ultimate in temperature stability and precision.

The PID controls are located on a "communication pod" or small touchscreen that plugs into the side of the machine. This allows you to adjust temperatures and program on/off times for each day of the week. The pod is removable, so you can unplug it and store it away to maintain the machine's classic, uncluttered aesthetic.

3. Integrated Shot Timer:

As part of the "Cronometro" line, the machine has a discreet digital shot timer located on the front panel. It automatically starts when you engage the brew lever and stops when you lower it, helping you achieve consistent espresso extractions.

4. Rotary Pump & Dual Water Source:

The "R" in the name stands for Rotary Pump. This type of pump is significantly quieter than a vibration pump and provides more consistent pressure.

The rotary pump also gives you the option to either use the internal 2.5-liter water reservoir or to plumb the machine directly into a water line for a continuous water supply.

5. E61 Group Head & Premium Build:

The machine is built around the classic E61 group head, a cornerstone of professional espresso machines, which provides excellent thermal stability and a gentle pre-infusion.

The machine is housed in a durable and beautiful polished stainless steel case and is known for its robust, commercial-grade components and "Made in Italy" craftsmanship.
